<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">hyderabad: in clear violation of the central wakf act and the shariah, the haj house building at nampally, hyderabad, is being used for purposes that violate the <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">mansha-e-wakf</span> (object of endowment). the razzack manzil, where the 11-storied building of haj house stands, was endowed for a library in 1932.
but neither the state government nor the a p state wakf board have made any provisions for a library in the entire building. prior to the construction of the haj house in 1999, a library was functioning in one of the seven rooms of razzack manzil. but, all books of the library were packed in gunny bags and shifted along with other articles of the wakf board to manoranjan complex at mj market road, from where the board functioned for about two years. though the board’s office was shifted back to haj house after its construction was completed in january this year, the board officials did not bother to re-set the library in the new building. presently, at least 5,000 books are lying in one of the rooms in the mezzanine floor of haj house. “most of the books got damaged in packing and transportation from razzack manzil to manoranjan complex.their present condition is not known to us as the gunny bags were not opened after they were brought back to the haj house,’’ a senior board official said. the books include some manuscripts, hand-written books and other rare books in arabic, persian, urdu and other languages. the razzack manzil, where the haj house building now stands, was endowed by ahmed shareef on august 21, 1932, while clearly mentioning that the place should be used for a library. “the ground floor portion shall be set apart for housing a library where people may sit and read books,’’ shareef said in his mansha-e-wakf in 1932. interestingly, though the government is aware of mansha-e-wakf of the haj house, it appears to have decided to utilise the building against it.“if the mansha-e-wakf of razzack manzil is to be followed in letter and spirit, then, there shall not be anything in the said building except a library. however, in the larger interests of muslim minorities, haj house has been constructed where offices of minorities welfare are being accommodated, reads memo no 8825/wakf-i/a1-2001-1 dated 25.01.2002. </div> </div>
